Rugby League Challenge Cup Final 2015

We are just a few weeks away from the Challenge Cup Final. This year’s final game is at Wembley Stadium and is sure to draw a massive crowd. With the semi-finals out of the way, it’s time to look at the final competitors’ chances. On 29th August, Hull will go up against the Leeds Rhinos. The defending champions, Leeds, are favourites to win, but everything could change!

Hull Kingston Rovers

In the semi-finals, Hull beat off competitors, the Warrington Wolves. Ryan Atkins is the player to watch as he has shown that he can get the team off to a winning start. In the game against the Wolves, the young player got a second-minute converted try. He is one of the team’s finest players and will have to work hard when the teams go head-to-head at the finals.

Hull are the underdogs in this competition. In their time, they have only managed to reach the finals six times before now. Out of those six games, the Hull boys have taken home the Challenge Cup just once. When they are playing against the Leeds team, they will need to show that they have what it takes. The Rhinos are an excellent team who have a long-running history of wins. Their many achievements will set them apart from the pack. So, Hull will need to pull every trick out of the bag if they hope to win!

Leeds Rhinos

At the end of July, Leeds Rhinos beat St Helens to reach the final of the contest. The Rhinos are the cup holders, which means that they now have a chance to defend their honour. In fact, the team have now won the Challenge Cup a record amount of 12 times. That is why everyone believes that the Leeds lads can do it again this year. Of course, it would take a dominant team to beat the Rhinos.

Jamie Peacock is by far one of the team’s best players. The star player has taken the team to victory time and time again. In the final, all eyes will be on him to see whether he can carry the team through one more time. The former England Captain has a lot of power behind him, which means that he is a strong rugby, player.

Unfortunately, the semi-finals saw one of the team’s other great players suffer an injury. Yes, Jamie Jones-Buchanan hurt his knee during the game, which could be a problem for the team. People have speculated that the player will not be taking on the Hull team in the final game. That in itself is a massive blow to the team and might prevent them from winning. Over his time in the game, Jamie Jones-Buchanan has shown that he has an incredible level of skill. It would be a real shame to see him sit out the final game of the competition.

In the lead up to the competition, many people wonder if Hull can change their fate. At the end of the month, Leeds could have their cup taken from them.
